Key Rings

So the first key ring attempt went good, did it within half an hour so if I take more time I could make it more detailed. My impatience and excitement is what ruined it in the end… don’t try and take it out of the oven by the tentacles when it’s still hot because it needs to cool to fully harden. Lesson learned.

(sorry for the poor quality key ring  photos had to be taken on my phone)

Character Design

This is my main character of my animation, currently nameless and the green guy at the bottom is one of the germs.

Been loving this advert since I saw it goggled it yesterday only to find out it’s by Oliver Jeffers…Though I’d seen the style before after doing so much research on him I’m disappointed in myself for not recognising it!haha

Productive day in the library. Did a bit more research looking at a few more children’s books - their illustration styles and the use of language.
Above are a few examples.

So the time has come to make a showreel …

Hugely regret not saving all my vectors, assets and general work in one folder!

These beautiful paper craft scenes are created by Ella Mackay. I think the pieces are amazing, they look so delicate and have a lovely dreamy feel to them.

Catia Chien is another illustrator I looked at, the top image is the one that captured my attention and made me look further into her work. I love the atmosphere in her illustrations, her style in some of her pieces reminds me of Quentin Blake’s - the use of watercolors and similar lines an brushstrokes.

Oliver Jeffers - Artist, Illustrator and Author

Jeffers is an Illustrator I’ve been looking at for inspiration toward my current project. I love his use of mixed media, space and hand written typography in his illustrations.
